Location: Dallas, TX | What do you guys think of this trailer, pros/cons? http://www.dhmco.com/trailer.asp?id=5042 Design features you do or don't like? We're looking for a second trailer that is lightweight, easy to use and affordable. We have 3 horses and have considered getting a 3 horse slant but the stalls are all too small on the trailers we can afford SO we thought we'd have two, 2-horse trailers. That way if we just want to take one or two horses someplace we aren't hauling a 3 horse around, and if we want to take all 3 horses we'll take two trailers. |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | Get a three horse, keep looking theres one out there you can afford that you're horses will fit into. Three horse will be cheaper in the long run, haul stuff in the extra stall when only hauling two. With two, two horse trailers you'll be burning twice the fuel, double drivers, more chance of a break downs, flat tires, more insurance, etc. |

Location: Dallas, TX | If we purchase a 3 horse we'll have to purchase a truck or larger SUV as well to tow it with. If you have a 3 horse and are only hauling two horses, can you take out the first divider to give that horse more room? I've only had bumper-pull, strait load trailers. I have NO experience with slant loads or goosenecks. The couple slant load's I've found that I liked I posted on here (with dimensions of the slant stall areas) for opinions and everyone said the stalls were too small! That's why I've given up on a 3 horse slant. PLUS the fact that we'd have to buy not only another trailer BUT also a different tow vehicle. I also worry because some folks say their horses don't haul well in a slant trailer. I'd hate to spend $$$ on a new rig only to have my horses not like it. They haul great in our 2 horse Brenderup that we've go now. Thanks!! |

Location: Arkansas | I have this exact trailer, love it, and it is a great runabout...rather than taking the larger LQ trailer as I use it for my Mounted Search and Rescue trailer, cuz you never know when you have to turn around in a tiny area (many of our searches are in the national forest). I did have fans put in at the horses head area, and made sure I have a constant hot wire with the truck turned off so that I can use my loading lights or light in the tack area, or fans, independently of having to have the truck running. I bought mine used, so the first thing I did was have new tires put on and the wheel bearings checked, cleaned and packed, and a breakaway kit and battery installed. I replaced the cord that plugs it into the truck with a all molded unit to lessen loose wire in the plug type problems. I like that the steel is painted galvaneal, and that all the wiring is in conduit with junction boxes....mine has been trouble free for 8 years of my ownership. It helps if your horse or mule is broke to be "sent" into the trailer, as ours do, rather than having to go in and then use the escape doors, but it is nice those doors are there. Not sure if I would go the 2 trailers route, seems that you could find one that works for the cost of 2? Just a thought. |

Location: Dallas, TX | If we bought a small 2 horse slant my plan was to take the divider out and let one horse have the entire trailer to herself. Here's another trailer I like: http://www.dhmco.com/trailer.asp?id=4886 Thanks in advance for all your help!! |

Location: TN | What about a stock trailer with a center gate that you can make the space as flexible as you want? It would not be much bigger than either of these trailers. We have a local dealer near us that sells Corn Pro Trailers that are steel but they seem pretty nice and sell for under 5k. If I was looking for a very versitile runaround trailer, I would look at them. |
