Hi, I need a break away kit. I'm wondering which is the best to buy; with a charger? without? how long the batteries last and if it doesn't have a charger how long does that type of battery last and how much does it cost to replace it. I see the whole kit but not replacement batteries. Did I miss them?

How does this apply the brakes? slowly or slam on? Just curious.

Thank you.

The battery will usually stay charged for a whole season, especially if it's trickle charged from the truck.

When the switch is pulled, a good battery will immediately effect a full braking stop.

Would someone (or more) post photo's of where and how their brake away boxes are positioned/located on the goosenecks. I've tried to find photo's on the net but they usuall aren't shown. I'm trying to get an idea of what to do before I do it. Thank you.

The break away switch and battery box are mounted underneath the goose area centered onto the front structure. A cable will go from there and is affixed to the truck. The wiring will tie into the blue trailer brake wiring, and may or may not be wired to the truck's wiring for charging.

We installed one of the newer styles that charge with test button on a BP that didn't have one. It came with decent directions. Very easy!
