I bought some class IV safety chains for my illegal horse trailer and need to know if I have to CROSS chains on a gooseneck? (ONE) I'm not sure they are long enough and (TWO) I've not found any online video's or instruction about mounting or using gooseneck chains.Only crossing bumper pull chains.
I've had several trailers and I don't think any of them had chains this heavy and or just had the wimpy "S" boat hooks. Now the fun part of drilling the bolt hole.

I'll second this...when I picked up my NEW TRAILER!!!! the sales gal specificially said I didnt need to, and that it was only on bumper pulls and that part of that was to keep them from dragging or catching things as you went down the road.

The reason that you cross chains on a BP trailer is if the trailer comes unhooked the crossed chains will "cradle" the hitch and not allow it to contact the road. The cross also allows more controll of the stability of the trailer. No need to cross on a GN trailer.
