thanks everyone on this forum for all the advice and support you've given me over the winter. I finally picked a trailer and bought it and it even arrived (2 horse slant load gooseneck Sierra). I picked it up on Saturday and have since clocked about 8 hrs of drive time over two days (5 or so empty, the rest with my horse on board). Having had NO experience with any trailer at all, its been an adventure. eep! I have managed to ace the "driving in a straight line". Hooking up/unhooking is a breeze (new record, 10 minutes, and I expect that to get even speedier), and I can even say that I am pretty good at turning, not killing any road turtles hardly at all anymore. Go me! Backing is still an adventure in stress, but I expect that too will come with time and practice practice practice. I have already written a preemptive apology to my barn owner for the crappy job of parking she's going to see for a while until I get the hang of it :) Plan on getting out there every weekend, with our first pony camping in May. woohoo! anyway, it was the reading I've done here, and the questions you guys kindly answered that let me get here. thank you!! |
