Location: Bridgeport,wv and Gaffney,sc | Okay so i brought my new trailer brought it home and smell something hott, well we pull the tire and the drum etc and the brake shoe fell out in two it had been bounceing around in it. So I figure if it was one tire it must be all of them bad. So went and got the 7K lb 12''X2'' Brake shoes. Got them all put on and change tires put back on etc. Now We jacked up the other side and they work fine. But the Side that was smellin the rear passenger Side was the worst one. We have Power to Them But they arent working also like the magnet isnt working right if there is any idea what we could do would be great. The trailer is a 4 H with LQ. To Everyone buying a used trailer from a dealer Make sure you pull the tires off. I have learned my lesson in trusting that a dealer you would think that the dealers would go thru and check these items. Also We adustled the brakes all the way out to the touch the drum and it still didnt work. thanks again |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | Everything beating and banging around inside the drum has probably damaged the electro-magnet or broken a wire..... Have you checked the power to that wheel with a tester/test light/amp meter? Make sure that magnet is making a good ground. Another tip.... Check the wear and tear on magnets as a preventative measure. Use a straightedge tool to check and inspect each magnet by laying the straightedge flat against the surface of the magnet. Abnormal wear will be indicated if the magnet surface deviates from the straightedge at any point. Replace the magnet if abnormal wear is evident. Also, check to see if any part of the magnet coil is visible through the material facing of the magnet. If so, replace the brakes on both sides of the axle. We never replace just the shoes, we'll replace the entire backing plate that's equipped with new shoes, magnet, springs and all related hardware. Remove four bolts, disconnect two wires and all the brake parts can be replaced. |
