Oh, there are so many nice places to ride in MO. My favorite MO trail riding destination is Big Creek Trail Rides. The organized rides are fabulous - eat, sleep and ride. You can ride on your own, so don't think you have to ride in a group. Big Creek offers lots of scenary and the Current River is beautiful. You can ride here anytime of the year too, not just during the organized rides. We go here twice a year and have been going for the past 7 years. We also like 4-J Big Piney. You can only ride here during their organized rides. Scenery is pretty and the bluffs are awesome, but not as many accessible trails from the camp as Big Creek. I know I'll get blasted from someone who loves 4-J, but I really don't feel there are as many "destination" rides as Big Creek offers. And if it rains a lot, it is very dangerous or next to impossible to access the trails across the Big Piney River along with the lower camp possibly flooding. We still go here once a year, as we enjoy the people and the trails are nice. Food is very good too and the mess hall is air conditioned. We are going to check out Brushy Creek this year as several members from our MFT club enjoy this camp. For a weekend ride check out Eagle Ranch, Berry Bend, Pomme de Ridge, and Huckleberry Stables. Ponderosa trails can be accesed just be warned that you will be riding on Bank Owned land to get to Huckleberry Ridge trails. We really enjoy Rick at Huckleberry Stables - but it is very difficult to get a large LQ trailer into his camp. He has very nice cabins to rent though. We spend a large portion of our vacations somewhere in MO trail riding every year. We are planning our trail ride schedule now and dreaming of warmer days ahead... only 8 more weeks until Spring! I can hardly wait. |
