I am seriously considering buying an Exiss Sport LQ trailer. This is a major purchase for me, and I don't want to be sorry. The trailer is on the other side of the country, so I would be purchasing based on photos and telephone conversation, having it delivered. It looks great, I have a friend who has a 10 year old Exiss and loves it, and many other Exiss owners have told me they love theirs. Then just this evening I learned of another friend who had trouble with the frame of her Exiss 4H with dressing room twisting, so that the doors would not close properly. She was told that frame twisting was common with Exiss. The trailer I am thinking of purchasing is a 2009 -- perhaps frame twisting was a problem with older models and was fixed by 2009? Any opinions/experiences would be greatly appreciated!!!

Make some searches on Exiss within this forum for the last year. You will find that Exiss frames are NOT plagued with twisting issues because of their excellent construction and material selections. Do your mentioned friends have twisting problems with their Exiss trailers?

Unlike any other brand of trailer, there are various mysterious maladies of Exiss products that magically appear, whenever friends of someones best friends' uncles' have neighbours that talk about them.

Any trailer can be tweaked if it is towed over some bad roads carrying heavy loads. The longer the trailer, the more easily this can happen. The service life of any trailer, is dependent upon the care and maintenance it receives when it is being used. If it used outside its design parameters, something negative will undoubtedly happen.

In your search, you will find many posting of Exiss products, with many favourable responses of many pleased owners. There have been issues with windows that were originally out sourced to Hehr and two roofing responses, but no frame issues at all. Here's the latest:

My one friend had problems with doors not working properly and the ramp not being able to be closed properly. They thought was hinges but turned out to be twisted frame. So far everyone else has the Event. However, a friend just told me this morning she knows many people with Sport model who are happy and she hasn't seen an Event. Wondering... would it be beneficial to somehow weld additional braces or something underneath just to make sure never had issue? While I plan on using the trailer maybe three times per week locally and maybe six road trips per year, most driving would be on tar roads and highways -- 70 mph tops. Not sure if this would be considered light or heavy usage.

We never saw a frame problem on a sport or an event and we had a couple hundred a year come and go. The problem was with all the moving parts. hinges, drop down windows, manger doors, camper door. The event was a full 7 wide, the sport is 6,8' and the stalls are narrower and shorter than the event. Make sure your horse will fit. No running board to step up on.

Your intended usage would be considered normal, and you should not need any additional modifications to the original trailer. Severe duty would be stuffing the trailer with more horses than it's rated for and driving over BLM roads at reckless speeds.

The "Events" look very similar to the "Sports" with few visual differences. The "Events" have a decal on the left rear door that looks like a pile of splattered bird poop. The "Event" rear doors are a 60%-40% combination with the larger being the stall entry. The "Sport" rear doors are a 50%-50% combination, both being equal in sizes. The "Sport" models have a Sport decal just ahead of the entry door.

If you go to Exiss web site and check the specs, you will see that the structural elements are common between the two models, with different spacing of the frame structures being the major differences.

If you notice a simular look between an event and a featherlite trailer it is because the owner of exiss started featherlite, sold the company in the early 90's and it moved to Iowa. In the same factory in ok city is where exiss is manufactured. I've never seen an issue with either frame. good frame. The sport frame came from a line of enclosed car trailers exiss builds. From what you say you are going to do with the trailer, the frame will not be an issue

We purchased a new 4 horse Exiss Sport in 2007. It fit our budget and our intented use .We use it probably, 2-3 times a month. It has been hauled all over the Midwest(We live in Missouri and it has seen most of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.) We have not had any problems with our trailer at all. We added the Show Package to it when we purchased it. That gives you better quality drop down windows, a stainless steel nose and trim rings on the tires instead of just plain trailer rims. The only thing that we have changed are the tires, got rid of the chinese tires and went with American made.

I read all kinds of threads on HTW before choosing an Exiss, and after 3 years I'm still happy with my decision. Would do it again, if I needed a replacement trailer.  We also have a 2 horse 4 Star and have been real happy with it as well. It doesn't get used as much, just as our local trailer. Easier to get in and out of smaller and tighter locations. Good for runs to the vet and the trainers.

I own two Exiss trailers and have been very pleased with both, a stock combo that has been worked hard and a 3 horse with an LQ and MT...love them both and think they are a great trailer for the price.  In my opinion many times people overbuy when it comes to trailers, they buy X brand because it has extra special welds and this and that and it's worth the extra 20K and then they use the trailer twice a year on Sundays to haul down paved roads and they could have gotten buy with a trailer built out of 2x4s.  I think if the trailer fits your budget and you like it have at it.
