Location: BRONSON ,IA. | Hi folks ! It has been a long time since I've posted, but I always enjoy reading the board. I could use some information please. My wife and I are planning on spending a couple of months in AZ. with our horses this winter and are considering upgrading our trailer to an all aluminun 12' LQ W/ a slide when we find a nice one. My question is I'd like to hear the pros & cons of slides from anyone who has owned or does own one at present. Posssibly, you could direct me to some threads w/info on the subject. I wasn't able to find anything on my search,but I'm sure there must be information somewhere in all the trailer threads.  Thanx in advance for your help TLR |

Location: nc | We looked for years and found ours online at Lakota of Ohio. It is a Lakota w/ 15' short wall w/72"slide out that has the dinette in it. Plus a huge couch. It makes a huge diffrence when it is out. So far so good as far as no issues with it. I could not amagine buying a new trailer with out the slide out. We had 4 adults in it this weekend comfortably. |

Location: Valentine, NE | Never owned one - yet! Have really looked them over. Hope the next one will have several slides. The pro's are the room, the room, and did I say the room! The cons are the added weight (had a dealer say ~300-500 lbs for each), more things to leak and break (doesn't seem to be much of a problem for the first 2-4 years of ownership), and if not slid out, the LQ is actually a little hard to get around in--I see us leaving it in at places we are only at a few hours and probably in storage. The last disadvantage is the cost...I have been told to make sure you have one that you can manually slide back in just in case, for some reason, something happens and you lose power....... |

| Cost aside. You will gain floor space and the trailer will be larger. But, you will lose wall space that usually means less storage. Typically the frame of the slide takes 11 or 12 inches of your wall and location will also limit use of the slide side wall. |

Location: Central Arkansas | I have had several trailers with slides. The hydraulic slides are the best. The electric slide takes a lot of juice to move in and out. On our Sooner (2) and Sundowner slide trailers (1), we had problems putting the slide in if the batteries were less that 80% charged. FYI.....Found a easy fix when dry camping all weekend, drive the slide side of the trailer up on a jiffy jack and gravity will help it go in with less battery needed. |

Location: Ottawa, Illinois 61350 | My wife and I have a trailer with a slide; and I also have been a trailer sales person for over a dozen years, so I have seen a steady increse in demand for slide-out LQ's. We sell trailers that have both the 12 volt ring/pinion drive, and the hydraulic drive units. Both kinds have been reliable and very trouble free. Slides have been used for a long time in the RV industry, so they have been perfected quite well by this time.
Our personal trailer is an 8' shortwall with a slide. In a 7' wide trailer, that is a huge plus !! However, as an earlier post indicated, you give up some storage for the slide.
We are seeing an increase in slide demand all the time. As a side note for service issues on slides, we seldom have one; and that goes for all three of out stores service facilities. |

Location: Brooksville, Fl | We just purchased a Lakota with 12' LQ and a slide. I haven't seen it yet as the hubby will be bringing it home on Sunday. I'm really looking forward to the extra room which is the only reason we sold our old trailer. Good luck in your search! I'm really looking forward to our new digs! |

Location: Florida | Our next LQ will hopefully be a 8w 7,6 tall w/5 foot mid tack, 2 horse straight ramp load with a 14 foot LQ w/slide with swivel recliners at a dinette and an oven. Don't forget ducted AC and heat. We also want to have a have a sink in the bath and one of those round clear door showers with a skylight. Good luck finding yours we still love ours but soon we hope soon.... |

| Our first trailer did not have a slide and it seems like we were always having company in and it was really crowed. We upgraded and a slide was a must. Nice to have the extra room whether or not you have a lot of people in there. Now, we want to go from a 4 horse to a three horse, but we still want the slide. |
