Location: Gallatin, TN | So, we were looking at 5th wheel rv's with toy hauler space in the back and thought how great that would be for horses. Does anyone have any idea if the toy hauler area could be converted for horses?  They all have ramps for loading of the toys, windows and roof vents in the "toy area". The living quarters, even those without a glide out, are so much more roomy than the highest end horse trailers and the walk up to the bedroom sure beats climing into a gooseneck space. So what do you think? What would be the areas of concern? |

Location: Turbotville, PA | Horse trailers are built with a 1000lb plus horse in mind that will be loading and unloading from the trailer at least once a day when in use. Toy haulers are not built to take this kind of abuse and will not hold up as long as a horse trailer would, plus I dont think I would put my horse in danger of something breaking when pulling down the road. My advice being someone that has horses and also races motocross, we sold our toy hauler type trailer and invested in a horse trailer that served as double duty. Good luck with your search and remember to make a safe and wise decision. |

Location: Gallatin, TN | Thanks very much for the input. Our first thought was if it can hold a 2000 pound race car..... but then wondered about the structure of the walls. We currently have a 4 Star trailer and are very pleased with it. |

| About 3 or 4 years ago, a noted clinician (who shall remain nameless) did exactly what you are thinking about. Traveling the country for months on end, he wanted the living space. So he took a 40' or so toy hauler and had 2 stalls built in the back. Within 6 months, he was begging someone to take it off of his hands, and had no real interest from anyone....I'm not sure where that thing ever ended up actually. Remember, that 2,000# race car doesn't paw, stomp, kick, pee, or poop. |

Location: Southern New Mexico | There was a thread about this awhile back, well maybe a few years ago. There were pictures of a toy hauler that was custom made for horses. It had the stronger walls/floor for the horses. I guess if your going to buy new that could be an option. |

Location: Ocala, FL | How about a horse trailer (lined and insulated for the comfort of your horses) with a seperate bedroom! you can either utilize the gooseneck area for more sleeping room or as a closet! AND the price would be very very reasonable ! Full Living Quarter with Master Bedroom well below 100k! You shoot me an email and I will work the specs for you! I look forward to hearing from you! |
