Location: Vanzant, Missouri | I just got a HD lcd tv for the LQ and I have an HD receiver from Directv. I originally had them connect the dtv to the trailer tv jack on the roof. Well it doesn't work. THe tech said reason being is that it's old cable. And they use a r-6 type now for hd. My question is how hard is it to replace the old cable.THis is what i thought. Ok I thought take the cover off the one on the inside and tape the new cable to that so it doesn't come off and go to roof take old cover off and pull new through...and reseal cover on roof. Now it sounds easy enough is there anything else in there that would catch on the cable and mess something up? I'm kinda mechanically incline but I am woman so I won't roar yet...lol |

Location: Southern New Mexico | I think an inline connector would work better than tape. I've recently had to restring some tent poles and the tape kept pulling off. That would be VERY fusterating if it happened inside the LQ walls. One of these. Our local walmart and radio shack carry them. I would still tape it to try to keep the edges from catching on anything and getting stuck. http://www.amazon.com/RiteAV-Coax-Coupler-Premium/dp/B000V1PAVM/ref=sr_1_18?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1286464734&sr=1-18 |

Location: Vanzant, Missouri | Thanks Terri. That would work alot better, and a lot neater than the tape idea and the cable coming through the door will be gone.. |

Location: Memphis, TN | mingiz....maybe you have completed your rewire by now and I hope it went as planned. But if not.... If the old antenna was working, there is no reason the new dish should not pass a signal thru the existing coax. Yes RG6 is superior to RG59 or what-ever coax was there, but if the old one was working it should still work. Many of the satellite installers use any excuse for leaving the trouble shooting to some one else. As to pulliing new coax with the old, Terri's idea of the in-line connector is good if there are no tight bends. Let us hear from ya. |

Location: Vanzant, Missouri | Well we got the rg-6 routed through the trailer without to much hassel. We hooked up using my friends sat. box and everything worked. But his box wasn't HD. I get trailer back to site and hooked up satellite and got no signal at all through the trailer..Nope nothing, nada, So I ended up just putting the flat cable back through the door until we can trouble shoot it. I don't know if the rv wall plate with the 12v plug in it has anything to do with it or the plate up on the roof may not have a good connection between cables. I noticed my friend snipped the wire on the cable kinda short when he put the end on it..So for now it's on hold.I will let cha know the final out come.. |
