| Can anyone give me the general 411 on the Merhow horse trailers. I've gone online and done some research, but quite frankly it is all a bit confusing and I am not familiar with the brand. I am looking to purchase a trailer with live-in quarters and have narrowed it down to 2, a Merhow and a Featherlite. Both are very nice and my gut is swaying me towards the Featherlite, probably because I am familiar with the name. I would like to know how the Merhows compare.
Thanks,
Robin

Location: East Aurora, NY | I have owned a 2001 Merhow Equistar 2H BP since 2003 (first owner used it 4 times to shows, then daughter off to college scenario, and I know her personally, so I know this to be true :) I love this trailer and really have no complaints. It pulls beautifully and the only service it has needed is new tires and annual bearing repacking. I really can't think of anything bad to say. Having said that, I too am looking :) Just to upgrade to 3H GN- love my camping! Good luck! |

Location: Bella Vista, AR | I own a 2006 Equilite, which is the steel frame and aluminum skin. I special ordered it. Merhow has been making quality trailers for MANY years. Mine has LQ with 11 ft. short wall. After 4 years and lots of miles, it looks great. I have had only a couple minor problems, and would buy another one. It pulls fantastic. |

I was just back at Merhow this summer and hope to have the new review posted here before Congress. |

Location: MO | I very recently bought a new horse trailer. I orginally was looking at Cimarron, Kiefer Built, and Merhow. I went and looked at all three, plus a few others. I felt the KB and Merhow were mid-grade quality. Not bad, but not what I was looking for. I ended up buying a Hart because I felt it was the best built. Cimarron ran a close second. I've never had a Merhow, nor do I know anybody with one, but I just didn't feel they were as sturdy as the Hart. |

Location: beaumont texas | i have both a merhow and a featherlite. the merhow has a 6' shortwall (i wanted to see how we liked staying in a LQ's trailer...it was too small for us but loved the convenience of being on horse show grounds), so ended up getting a featherlite, used. it is a 4 horse, made into a 3 horse so stall areas are huge.
i feel these two trailers are neck and neck as far as quality. i have no complaints about either, but there is a difference between these two brands and the high end brands like 4 star, platinum. (i noticed the more expensive ones have more heavy duty latches, etc.) we don't camp, just go to shows, and i have not had problems with either. (never really used the merhow after the first two shows: one mom and one teenager would need a huge LQs in order not to get on each other's nerves!) |

| I had a Merhow Equistar and did not like it at all. Even with exceptional maintenance, things were breaking that shouldn't have been breaking, and the trailer as a whole felt flimsy. The Verylites are probably better quality but I would never buy another Equistar. |
