What is the name of the latch that are on tack doors of a C & C trailer? Mine broke and want to get new parts but I don't know the name. I need the screw/bolt to attach the handle to the door.

I it's mounted half way up on a post, it's called a butterfly latch. If the handle attaches to a vertical rod and latches at the top and bottom of the rod, it's called a camlock latch

I may be wrong but I don't think its either one of those suggestions. I've seen the butter fly and that not it. The other described is not what I have. There is no closure top and bottom. Its a flat bar that hangs vertical until you pick it up and place it horizontal then you flip the "swing thing" and are able to put a pad lock or a snap to keep the 2 pieces together. OH my goodness thats sound so dumb!

Try this place. They carry several types of latches. I think I see the type you're referring to near the bottom of the page.http://www.horsetraileraccessorystore.com/door_window_latches.htm

The picture on the web site you listed looks about right for my trailer though I haven't measured to see if the size is the same. The piece that pivots in the cam latch on my trailer (Hawk) has some rust on it.
Is there a way to remove the rust? I think it is just surface.
If I want to replace that top pivoting piece do I need to buy the whole cam latch?
