I am ordering a tubed head divider for my horse trailer.  The fabricator wants to know how far apart the bars should be.  I kinda figured they were standard, but I guess they aren't.

Does anyone know the standard width between the uprights?

 Four inch centers maybe... A picture might help.....
<script> window.setTimeout("watermark()",50);

When we build Hand and Guard rails for homes, the code requires that the bars be close enough together that a 4" sphere can not pass through the bars. This is mainly set to keep a babies head from getting caught between the bars.

I would suspect that is still a safe spacing for a horse trailer.

Thanks, I found out a friend of mine has one in her trailer so I am asking her to measure.. 4 inches seemed right to me... thanks for the tip with the babies, that is very interesting...

I will measure tomorrow her trailer, luckily it's near where my horses are.  I will let everyone know how wide they are and get a picture if possible.

Well, the bars on the divider that my friend has are 3 inches apart between the edges of the tube.  The front and back near the exterior tubing are less, about 2.0 to 2.5 inches.

Not sure if this is the standard, but probably what I am going to go with.

Thanks for your ideas, learned a lot doing this process.
