Location: Cornfield in Iowa | I have an A&E awning on my '95 Sundowner and it really needs to be replaced. Has anyone ever replaced the fabric themselves? I have read a couple of articles about it and it sounds like quite a job. I can't locate anyone in the vicinity that will tackle it. Suggestions, anyone? The awning mechanism itself is in great shape, the fabric is just starting to rot. |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | No RV dealer in your area? Most folks around here take them to the RV dealer/shop/place for awning repair. Some folks replace them themselves.... If you've never done one, it would be best if you get someone to help you that has tackled one in the past. A few cool beverages and some seared flesh on the grill can get you some pretty good help!!! |

Location: northeast Texas | Cant help with replacement advice BUT I do have a 14 ft A & E 8500 brand new pewter awning cloth I would love to sell. Bought it for our horse trailer, wrecked the trailer before we got the new cloth put on, and am stuck with the cloth. If anyone has this size and brand I can make you a good deal. For this deal you could buy the hardware and cloth and add an awning. I gave right at $300 with shipping. I would take $100 plus actual shipping. |

Location: Minnesota | Don't know where you are in Iowa, but Denny's Trailer Sales in Wykoff, MN, just a few miles north of Forestville State Park can do it. They sell new awnings installed (up to 20') for $550.00. I know Joey also replaces fabrics. He did it on the last trailer I bought in a little over an hour. |

I am in the extreme southeast corner of iowa. I need to contact a few more RV places around here. The closer ones are all morons. |

Location: Central Arkansas | We tried to replace just the fabric on one a couple of years ago. You have to take the whole thing down. Arms & tube included. We had a tree branch fall on ours camping but didn't want to report the loss to insurance. Our fabric was the one with the running horses and lasso ropes so we couldn't buy it at camping world. Our tube turned out to be dented so we had to replace it too. I took the trailer back to the conversion company that was 4 hrs away since they had the specialty fabric in stock. They handled it all. Turned the claim into insurance any way after repair shop found the satelite on top was also cracked. |

Location: Florida | We just ordered our replacement. Tube and all. Comes preloaded from the factory. A&E changed the design of the Hardware. So they make them specific to order. Model number on the tube is model (1st 3) color (2) Length (2) .400 = Thickness There are not alot of replacement colors avail. Two people can change this in 45 minutes with two step ladders and a plank to walk along. Once it's in you release the factory tension and your done. I found mine for 399 plus tax here in Mass. |

Its so rare to find a dealer especially if you need some RV Parts to replaced with. So its important to gear yourself up with strategy in purchasing and repairing the damaged parts. Luckily, we have one here almost a kilometers a way to fix our thing.

Location: ohio | It can be replaced yourself if you use caution and have a helper. We replaced ours last summer. I took a chance on one off Ebay and the fellow I delt with was very helpful. Just make sure when you order one it is the exact material measurement. My son put ours on with the help of my husband. Everything is good as new and works a lot better now. It does not snap so fast when rolling it up now, goes nice and easy. One word of caution, the tension ends are very, very tight. They can cause great harm to you if you do not take them off carefully. |
