Since the company has closed down and I cannot find any info on the trailer as to the actual weight, would anyone have an idea about this trailer:

 http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/grd/1876248704.html

Went to see it yesterday, pretty solid except for surface rust, he painted the trailer, 1 tire needs to be replaced the other tires still look in good condition with quite a bit of thread. It has a GVW 5,000lb no title..anyone have an idea what this might weigh? Need to know if a 1/2 Dodge Dakota with a towing capacity of 5,000lb will be able to haul it with (2) 1,000 horses. I dont want to put any stress on the truck. Any insight is greatly appreciated, also what do you think about the price?

Well first, 1/2 ton Dakota????  Unless it has the V/8 engine and extended cab in my opinion I would think NOT.  This little trucks are great pleasure vehicle but not much on towing.

However the trailer seams like a deal to me.  We had a new Trail Magic 2 horse but in a gooseneck with a 4' short wall and if I remember right the empty weight was only around 3700 to 4000lbs.  So just a guess bases on the size and being the same brand I would stay this little trailer would be somewhere around 2500lbs or so empty weight.  I'm guessing you can not read any information on the vin plate?

It's a SLT V8 crew cab. We decided not to get the trailer. Hubby can comfortably pull 3,000lb but that is about it, he is worried about it trashing the transmission.
