My LQ had a pull out camper step that broke off.  An inspection shows that it probably wasn't a great installation, it was bolted to the underside of trailer on the cross bars, there was about an inch or less of space in which the holes were drilled for the installation and you can see that the soft alluminum just had enough and pulled through.  I am thinking it may be best to have someone weld the step...would this be a good idea, it is and alluminum step.  Is there a better instalation?

Welding can greatly increase the surface area of the joint over a bolted installation. If it is done well, it will be strong and long lasting.
