Location: Spring hope, N.C.		I am a contractor from N.C. working in Walton Kentucky. I've found a good deal on an enclosed trailer but it does not have a title. what will it involve to get a title up here or back home in N.C?

Some will have a title and some will not.  Just depends on how it was transfered when it was new.  In Texas if the trailer is under 3500lb rating you are not required to have a title.

Kentucky trailers are not required to have titles or license plates as far as I know... I would check with NC state laws. Ohio's title law is based on the empty weight of the trailer. If it is under 3k, no title. Over 3k title required. Plates required on all in Oh.

It will probably be pretty easy to get a title for it if it has a VIN or ID number stamped on the side. You just may have to get it inspected. In Ohio, how it was explained to me is that if the trailer comes from a state that requires no title, Ohio will issue a title the equivalent of a "homebuilt" title.

If you buy it, make sure you get a notorized bill of sale from the seller that has the trailer vin # and a good description of the trailer.

Location: Virginia		I recently purchased a horse trailer with no title - based on its weight.  It only had a registration which clearly stated on it that it did not have a title.  DMV in VA required that I have the original registration card (no copies accepted) and a signed bill of sale.
