I currently have a remove a ball GH hitch in my 2000 Dodge 3500. Recently bought a 5th wheel camper. Want to put a Reese 15K 5th wheel hitch in my truck but I think the brackets for the GN hitch might interfere with the installation of the brackets for the 5th wheel. Anyone ever done this? Or would I be better off getting a GN converter for the 5th wheel camper?

Is your GN hitch Reese also? Typically, they will mount on the same rails if it is. Even if it isn't, I have seen many combinations that work together.

A friend of mine just bought a new 5th wheel camper last year and had the dealer convert to a gooseneck hitch. The dealer said he is seeing more of these done with none horsepeople too. Conserving the space in the truck of their bed with a ball hitch.

I did this to my camper. I added the hitch to it instead of my truck. Now I can pull either my horse trailer or my camper and do not have to change my truck hitch. It works great.

For those of you that converted the 5th wheel to GN, what kind of converter did you get? How hard is it to take on and off? Reason I ask is that we are putting a 5th wheel hitch in my husbands truck so he can pull the camper, but I will need to pull it occassionally when he is not available.
These work excellent and they take some of roughness out of the 5th wheel on bumpy roads. If you have any questions please pm me or just call any of the numbers on the website.

I've had the rails in two trucks now and have both a 5th wheel hitch receiver and gooseneck ball for my truck. Just put in whichever I need to pull whichever trailer, and just the rails are in the bed of the truck when neither is in use. For that reason alone I'll continue to use the rail system in any future truck. No permanently mounted ball to get in way when hauling other things, and no moving parts to jam up with the pop up ball systems.

The reason I did it this way I got the horse trailer first and that is what I had so I did not want to buy another hitch for the truck. And my husband can pull either one of them also. He has the ball hitch too.
