I am interested in purchasing some soft step (eco foam) trailer mats for my two horse slant load trailer. Does anyone have these and what are your thoughts? Also, is there another product that is just as good but not so pricey?

I put them in my 3 horse slant and love them! I got mine from Valley Vet but they are not carrying them any longer. I have had people wanting to get some but don't know where to get them now. Who is carrying them?

My new Cherokee purchased in October has the soft step mats under the regular rubber floor mats. They sure are nice on the horses when doing lots of traveling. There was info in the packet about the mats so I will get it out and look up the manufacture's name for you.

Soft Step mats are meant to go under regular mats.  They come in 4 x 7 sheets, and are a little under $50.00 per sheet.  We don't keep them in stock but can get them.

My Elite trailer came with them and we no longer use them. The mats hold water and urine. We pull the mats out after every long trip and clean the aluminum floor and rubber mats and could see where the mats were retaining water if we traveled through heavy rain. I was concerned with the mats causing pitting of the floor, so we no longer use them and just use extra shavings for cushion.

If you clean the mats with a sprayer, the mats will take days to dry in the sun before you can put them back in the trailer. Too much effort for the same amount of cushion that extra shavings can provide.

I have used 'pro-cushion' under my mats, but they are no longer in business.   I recently purchased some 'soft step' cushion from 'Red Neck trailer supplies' and they work very well.   They are not as sturdy as the pro-cushion, but they work.   They are a closed cell foam, so they do not absorb moisture.  I also put shavings on top of my mats to absorb any urine.   I wouldn't haul a horse without them.
