| We're considering going to Jim Edgar for a long weekend in June. A lady at the Illinois Horse Fair suggested this as a good place to go. Does anyone want to comment on the trails, campground, etc? Thanks for your help. |

Location: centra,l Illinois | We took a day-trip there last year and will be returning this year for a couple weekends stays. The trails and campgrounds were both in very good condition. 26 miles of trails and 22 pads for trailers. I would also suggest looking at sand ridge state park about 30 mins north of jim edgar state park. If you get tired of riding through the spring mud we always seem to have, sand ridge is the place to go for a nice break. 50 miles of trails. check out www.dnr.state.il.us if you haven't already. |

It's very easy, boring riding. Mostly in open field. We're use to good hills. We won't go back. Best thing to do is try out for yourself. That's how we did it. Happy Trails...

| Shari, You mentioned trails are boring. Do you have any other suggestions for long weekends? We're trying to find a place that we can meet friends from northeast illinois. Thanks |

![100](https://horsetrailerworld.com/forum/images/decorations/multiple/100.gif) Location: illinois | The trails at Jim Edgar would be boring if compared to Shawnee. But there are hills and alot of timber riding. We live very close to Jim Edgar and ride there often. Siloam State Park has challenging trails and beautiful scenery its located near Quincy. There is also Weinberg King easier riding than Siloam and not as many trails. Sandridge is a great place to ride in the spring, during hot summer days not so much.(sandy and dusty). Jim Edgar has the nicest camp grounds with a modern shower house. All sites hace electric. Take caution during rainy season with Siloam Springs! Happy Riding. |

I've never been to Siloam but heard it's good riding. I know, hate to pack up and move. I'd say try it you might like it. Everyones likes and dislike are different.
Happy Trails |
