For the last couple of months I have been shopping for a 2H GN trailer. I found Shadow on line and called their IN address which was the closest to me. I talked with someone in management who quoted me a very low price. The following week I called and emailed the company for the additional info I was promised, and received no response. I then emailed a rep on this site who forwarded my request to a third party, who didn't answer at first, and then only did when I began to bitch.

During this time I thought I was dealing with the Shadow factory. In my trading of information with this new person, I was also promised a very low pricing, which he hadn't yet offered. I then learned that this person was in fact a FL dealer.

In the mean time I visited an OH manufacturer who also is a dealer of several brands. (not Shadow). In his lot was a newer, used Shadow trailer, the first one I had been able to see in person. By being able to directly compare that trailer, with several other brands including the owner's, I then chose to not consider it any further. In addition to construction details, purchasing a trailer from a dealer 1200 miles away from me would be ridiculous.

I would recommend you look at a Shadow trailer in person before you choose. There are many manufacturers that can build you a good, all aluminum trailer. For a similar or even lower pricing, you can also purchase a better made used trailer of several brands, usually with more accessories.

I am not bashing Shadow. The question was if anyone had compared them to any other manufacturer. I have.

Shadow trailers are nice looking trailers... I know a couple of people who have either a two horse bumper pull, or a GN LQ. I looked one over with an owner and he said that the customer service/warranty service on some leaks in his new trailer had infuriated him. In a year he had no response to many querries and took it to his local repair. They look great, but I think it pays to stick with the proven brands and pay for quality.

PS; We have an older 2 horse BP that we use for day or vet trips...without a big investment. That way, we don't have to drag the LQ out when we don't need to.

I have a 2H BP Shadow that has held up fine for the 2 years or so that I have owned it. We use it almost once or twice a week and it has been fine. I haven't had many issues with it except that the tie rings were in an in-opportune place which caused my horse to mess up the head divider (mine is a straight load). I told them about it and they mailed me 2 tie rings at no charge which I placed on the wall instead of the middle pole. We fixed the head divider and have had no issues since then.
