This is the first palomino I've ever had. During summer when I got him he was a pretty dark color, now his body is as light as his mane and tail. He got REALLY light colored. Do they all do this? When the winter hair comes off will he be back to the dark?

I have owned a few Palaminos (1 6yr old now) and yes there winter coat was lighter.  Mine have always "darkened" when they shed.

I had a palamino for several years, he was dark in summer and pretty light and dapple in winter.  When he would shed out, he was almost a chocolate color, then turned a pretty copper color (his name was copper too!)

Yes. I have two palominos. One is very dark golden and the other is almost a creamello color. The dark golden palomino turns several shades lighter with lots of dapples; the lighter one is almost white (well sorta - she likes to roll in the mud!).
