I'm wanting to do this and the conversion company in my area has quoted me $600.00 for the door and 1 hour of labor to do this. The doors being discussed in the earlier posting were in the $200.00 and $300.00 range. Just so I'm comparing apples to apples, why are these doors so much cheaper? Are the doors hollow or wood filled? I was under the impression that I would need a solid aluminum door. Second question, I will need to take my trailer to be acid washed in the spring and haven't done that before, does anyone know of a truck wash familiar with horse trailers in a 75- 100 mile radius of Omaha. Thank you Joan |

Location: Oklahoma | I had a walk-thru door put in my previous trailer and it was around $900,aluminum and rubber matting to match wall. they had to rebrace the frame where the opening was cut. If not done, it would be cheaper but not done right. Can;t just cut a hole...Also, the door/frame was flush with the wall, no "rim" around it for horse to step on at the bottom.Get what you pay for. Good luck! |

Location: NE | I have been looking for an aftermarket door with not much luck. I finally ordered one from Featherlite out of Ceresco, IA for $475.00. Our dealer shipped it for free since he had a trailer headed back to Nebraska. Otherwise freight was going to run $150 - $200. The best truck wash is in York, NE (Blue Beacon) there may be one in Council Bluffs or Millard as well. good luck. Hart has a good door with bullet hinges in the same price range.Good luck |
