OK, when replacing the charger in my LQ, do I need to replace with 30 amp or can I upgrade to 45 amp or would it really make a difference.

You can upgrade with a larger unit. Unless you modify or add to your circuits, the total draw will be the same. The larger unit will work less hard at the original capacity, and will generate less heat, which helps to ensure its reliability. Also the newer units have a more regulated charging system for the LQ batteries. This allows a better battery maintenance and will increase their life spans.
