Location: Baltimore, Md. | I'm a newbie and I hope this isn't a really stupid question but... We are animal rescuers in Louisiana and we use our Sundowner 2+1 (without living quarters) to transport dogs to the Northeast for adoption. How can we safely heat the trailer just enough to keep all of the dogs (sometimes up to 25) fairly comfortable? |

Location: Iowa | Is your Sundowner fully enclosed? Or is it a stock type trailer? How are the Dogs transported? I assume they are in dog boxes. So are you wanting heat while they are in transport or after you get to where you are going? I know alot of questions. If your trailer is fully enclosed, would you need much heat with 25 dogs? |

Location: Henderson, TN 38340 | I think that one of the safest ways is to heat the trailer from the engine of the truck. Old school busses had a rear heater that had it's own fan. One of these could be installed with quick connect couplers to the heater lines. When you get up to the north you may need to cover most of your radiator to provide enough heat like the semi's do. |

Location: cedar rapids iowa | I would think just insulating it would keep it comfortable with several dogs body heat. Especially if the have blankets and such to lay on. |

Location: Florida | I would be afraid of CO2 poisoning. And unless very small or ill most dogs would rather be in the chill with a nice blanket than in the warm panting and nervous. Our Kitty loves this item. Location: Illinois | I think trying to heat the trailer for the dogs would be a mistake...25 dogs ina trailer is going to produce a fair ammount of heat..if the dogs are not use to heated quarter then you might be doing more harm than good. Besides, they are wearing fur coats ya know...decent bedding (blankets, straw, etc.) in creates would probably be more than enough to keep them comfortable. JMHO |

I haul up to ten dogs, and have friends that haul up to twenty-five.
No heat is required, just a draft free area and a box/varikennel that has some bedding, such as clean dust free straw. They will curl up into a nice little ball and be very content. Keep them hydrated. |
