Hello All,

I'm new here and hope you can all help me out. I did a search but couldn't find the answer to my question, so here goes..

I have a 2002 Featherlite 2H slant. I've had a lot of problems with the trailer since I got it, mostly with the issue of leaking. Water is coming into the dressing room not from the roof but from where the walls meet the floor.

We had the walls insulated and paneled when we got the trailer, so there's really no way to fix the problem from the inside. I was wondering if there was a special caulk we could use on the outside that would stick to aluminum.

The area that needs fixing is where the "running board" meets the wall.

Thanks in advance for your help.

A polyurethane caulking will water proof the seam and be long lasting. It is a much better product than the standard household type silicon caulking. It is available at most big box stores, well stocked hardware stores and marine suppliers.

Thank you for your rapid reply. What should I use to clean the area before using the caulk?

A green coloured Scotch Brite pad works well.

Ok, that sounds simple enough.  I was thinking there was some liquid cleaner that I needed to use to prep the area so the caulk would stick.

The Scotch Brite will mechanically abrade and clean the aluminum surface of contaminates.
