So I was gonna buy a new cooler, a smaller extreme cooler. But I am gonna buy a  refrigerator for my weekender trailer.  Not one of the dorm size but the next size up.  Electric.  If I use it as a cooler, with ice etc will it work and keep food cold for a weekend if I don't have electric hookup? Don't they have some type of insulation to keep them cold?

You can pre cool the fridge at home with electricity, stock it, and then add a large bag of ice. Depending on how often you open the door and the duration of each occurrence, the interior can stay cool for a day or so. The more full it is, the longer it will stay cool.
