Looking at gooseneck stock trailers. Would like to haul up to 5 or 6 average size (15.3) horses with room for a 3' tack room up front. Any suggestions on length/height/width would be appreciated. Considering the new Featherlite 8117, 20'L x 6'7"W x 6'6" tall.

Most of the stock/combos we sell are 7' tall and 7' wide with varying sizr tack rooms.  One trailer that we have had success with is a 22' floor length, and a 4' tack room.  We also have success with a model that we put both a slant wall on the tack room and a slant gate in the center of the stock area.  A 16-20 foot stock are is plenty of room for that many horse.  Some guys would crowd 8 or more in that area.

we build allot of 20ft to 24ft gn with different layouts  from different customers. we custom build all our trailers to the specs of the dealer ordering it or the person who's needing it.  but i would say a 20ft gn or lager would be you best bet.

Does a person notice much difference between a 20 foot and a 22 foot while going around corners?

I went from a 19 foot on the floor (not including goosneck) to a 22 foot on the floor and from a 7 wide to 8 wide and from 7 high to 7.5 high. It did take a little while to get used to having that much more trailer behind be but it was a fairly easy adjustment. If you are only adding length and not width and height, I would think the adjustment would be even easier.
