Been out and about in the mountains and back for the week here. You really need to turn up your sound to get the full effect of this video. It's of me talking about filming this bear that Josie spotted today when we did a loop ride from Spicer Res. Dam to Rhodes Lake. When we came up upon Rhodes lake which sits in this Tamarack tree bowl, we came into some snow. Ontop of one of the snow burms was bear tracks with parts of a cow's carcas laying right where the tracks were. You could see where a bear layed down to chew on some of the bones. He had bones everywhere on that snow bank. I figured this wasn't a good position to be in if he happened to come back this way, and was sure he would as the tracks were from that morning. I was sitting there eating lunch and constatly turning my back and watching everthing through the trees. I was quick to eat as I thought, that damned bear prob. will smell my lunch then I'll be in trouble. Well now for the video, as Josie kept turning to see him te video is pretty shaky, there is a small bit of cussing in it as I was pretty shaken myself.....For some reason I can't email it from any emails so here is the direct link to my Photobucket of it...... have fun laughing!

(that one was within feet! ) This one was maybe 50 yards. I was worried about Miss Du trying to herd him, thinking it was a cow! YIKES! I've never had a dog with me so this is Du's first year on every trail with me, hence the bell noise in the back ground. I always get so excited when I see bear, just makes my heart race. I didn't really feel a threat, and he didn't either as I watched him for awhile to make sure, he was just cruising. |

It's so fun to find the predators in the wild. Deer and elk are easy to find. But bears and cats a special treat. Thanks for sharing. |

I'm pretty sure my mare would have left me on the ground as a distraction while she made her escape. |

Amanda Thanks Amanda for going to the corral! Yeah, I will post this video on it too but wanted to share it first hand with my board pals! I have Sirius in the Dodge, I have it set to "Willie's Place" and the "Roadhouse". Wish they had more room on the player so I could put on more of my "Old West Favorites"! As soon as I get some more free time, I will post my Clarks Fork Memorial Day Family campout on there too, over on the corral..... |

No matter how many time I run into bear in the mountains, I always get wound up, my voice actually goes up 10 db!!! A friend I met up with at the beach, (a 6 1/2 hour tow for me from home) cracked up at my voice when I thought I saw a whale while riding Josie along the white foamed shoreline, she commented on my voice and the db's!!! LOL!!!
