Location: western PA | There are several products sold at auto parts stores, that are used as instant scratch removers. They generally are a clear liquid, that are applied directly to the scratch, and some what hide the imperfections. There are also colour tinted polishes, that can be applied to damaged finishes. They dry in the colour you purchase, and can hide scratches. If that doesn't work, at the same auto parts store, purchase a small tin of fine buffing (white polishing) compound and a foam applicator. Rub the scratched areas until it blends with the surrounding paint. The prepainted panels the manufacturers use, generally have less of a paint thickness than a spray application. It is a very durable finish, and is baked onto the metal. But you can rub through the finish, and if there is bare metal showing, only by applying more paint, can you repair the damage. Gard |
