Location: Corpus Christi, Texas | Our Tractor Supply store has roof top car cargo racks on a super good sale and I was thinking they would make a good cheap hay rack for my trailer..they are big enough to carry a couple of bales of hay. These racks are made to attach to existing roof racks like most SUVs have...Would it be possible to mount this on my trailer somehow? |

Location: western PA | Any rack you install has to be supported by the trailer's side walls and not the roof's center section. Many car top carriers are narrower than those used on a trailer, and may not be strong enough for a few hay bales. If you can't walk on the completed structure, I would not gauge it strong enough to be used as a hay rack. Hay racks are necessarily a sturdy lot, and I don't think that most of the car top carriers, of which I'm familiar with, are up to the task. Gard |

Contact Featherlite...my rack is a double skin roof. Well more than double skin, the additional layer is maybe 11 guage alum. I don't like it and will make into something I do like in the future.
