Location: Decatur, Texas | hummm, you think they had insurance? Sound like something funny going on here, cutting a couple of heavy chains, lock on a gate then a master hitch lock! |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | I can see cutting the chains.... But I would really like to see what they cut that lock with, they must have had a cutting torch, or it must have been some "mickey mouse" lock!! http://netposse.com/stolenmissing/pdfflyers/ArlingtonTX_trailer_April09.pdf |

Location: Where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain... | Probably cut the pin in the hitch lock, or the hitch lock, but not the pad lock if it was a good one. Everything on a hitch lock is soft with the exception of the pad lock. 5 pound sledge and a few well placed swings...presto...no more hitch lock. Or, the quieter route would be a hacksaw... And then there is always the fact that someone will use a $5 padlock like this http://www.1st-in-padlocks.com/4530-ecomony-laminated-padlock-p-24.html that you can cut with bolt cutters rather than spending $40 and buying this http://www.masterlock.com/apps/catalog/product.jsp?target=commercial%7Csecurity&subId=D6327 . |

Location: Arkansas | Our gooseneck lock is stainless steel, then there is a sort of fat round master lock, and the same lock on the bolts that hold on the hitch assembly.....then there's the dogs, and then there's.......me!

You have the good one! And a good lock. Those fat round master locks are good. Can't get on them with the bolt cutters, and even if you could, you have to cut it twice to get a chunk out of it to get it off. The dogs and you are probably the best defense though! |
