Any formula to figure trailer pin weight? Folks that bought the Hart trailer from me are now trying to figure out what they need to pull it.Pulling it is not a issue at 8k dry weight(2500 truck) but it does set my 3500 dually down on the helper spring. Not a lot but some.Makes my high in the rear Dodge ride level.

Most of my trailers have had about 25% of the loaded trailer weight on the pin.

Take the total weight of the truck and trailer, then deduct the weight of the truck and then deduct the weight of the axle system: example: combinned weight 20,000, truck weight 10,000 lbs = 10,000 deduct weight on axles only 5500= 4500 weight on the hitch or tongue weight. Hope this helps

I am sorry I missed most of this. What is your Hart? Setting on the helper springs is not a bad thing. If it is a LQ then your buyers should have a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. I agree 25% is the standard calc. Some folks are strange buyers. When we sold our BP we delivered it because the buyers had not found a truck yet.

You can tell them they can stop here in AR on their way to pickup the trailer. I just happen to have an extra dually I can sell them that can most definately pull that trailer!
