Hello -- I've done some searching and a lot of reading on the forum, but would still like to get some opinions on my particular situation. We're looking for a 2H BP for vet visits and 4-5 horse shows a year (probably no farther than 150 miles each way). I have tall horses, so at least 7' tall is a must. I would like a ramp just because that's what both horses are used to now.

My budget is $7K give or take, and I would prefer to be closer to $5K. I'm looking at alum skin over steel, used. Here's my short list. All are straight load walk-throughs, ramps, with escape doors and big dressing rooms.

2002 Kiefer Built Grand Prix
1996 Trail-et Baron
1999 Sundowner Valuelite
2002 Merhow Equistar
1990 Tracer

Any manufacturer that is superior? Any that are watch-outs? Any 'lemon years' for some of these? Any that pull better than others?

Also, I'll be taking it on the highway. Do I need/want stabilization bars?

Thanks in advance for all of your help. I really appreciate it!

I have a Merhow gooseneck which pulls like a dream. While I am not familar with the bp's, Merhow has been building horse trailers for 50+ years so they must be doing something right. JMHO

Thanks, rose. The trailer we borrow now is also a Merhow (slant load with ramp). But we've never taken it more than 10 miles, and never on the highway.
