I'm looking into purchasing a small older trailer to haul my miniature horses to local shows and such, but I don't have a lot of money to spend, and I don't need a huge trailer, I'm only hauling 2 miniature horses. I'd like to spend less than $1000, but I know im not going to get a great trailer for that. I have seen decent older 2 horse straight loads with the front manger for that price and less. I realize I'll probably have to repaint, possibly rewire lights, and do things like replace the floor. I've had a few fixer upper trailers, and regretfully sold my nicest trailer last summer for $600 because I needed the money to pay off medical bills, and I was no longer showing big horses.
Many of the trailers I'm findings have the open top on the back above the doors or ramp. I don't want this open style, and i'm wondering if its possible to add doors above that. Also, I came across a solid trailer for a good price, however it doesn't have brakes. I defiantly want brakes, how much does it cost roughly to add brakes to a trailer? Everything I've ever had already had the brakes on it.

Purchase the trailer you are looking for. To modify and change a trailer can be expensive, and may not work out the way you want it. There are many 2 horse trailers for sale. Keep looking, and with patience, I'm sure you will find a better one to enjoy.
