Location: MI. | I no longer have my motorhome. I have been roughing it for the past 3 years but I have to admit, I've had some fun!.......I plan on having ammenities this year and I have been browsing for trailers it seems forever. I do not want payments but I figured I would have payments in order to afford a better brand of trailer. But low and behold, I came across this trailer which would be perfect for hubby, me and my daughter! Opinions please???? http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/home/trailerdetail.asp?ID=189030

Location: MI. | The motorhome has been gone for three years. It was nice once you were parked but hauling the horses with it was a pain to me. 31 foot motorhome + 16 foot trailer was not fun backing up. I have wanted a truck and gooseneck for a LONG time. This year is it and I am just a little giddy about it. Showed trailer to hubby......He says it's too small. He want's a 10-12 foot short wall. I've stayed in a friends 8 ft. sw before. It is a little small and lacks storage space. I guess you have to weigh everything out including cost....

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | Just remember, don't buy more trailer than what truck you have to haul it.... Didn't you just buy a 3500 SRW? Be careful and don't get too over on your pin weight. Your payload capacity in somewhere around 3781#. Thats people, bags, groceries, firewood, fuel vessels, drinking water, the cat, dog, etc. and..... The trailer pin weight. http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/forum/thread-view.asp?threadid=10855&start=1 http://www.trailerlife.com/images/downloads/2005/TowingRatings_p12_15.pdf 2005 3500 SRW, ext. cab, 6.6L TD V-8/ Allison auto/3.73 weight distributing towing capacity 12,000 gooseneck towing capacity 16,700 GCVWR 23,500

Location: MI. | Yeah bought the black one. Hubby would be happy with an 11 foot shortwall. I'm thinking we might be maxed out with one. When they give you the weight of a trailer with LQ, is a full fresh water tank included?

Is the pin weight about 25% of the trailer weight?

Location: western PA | 25% is a rough guesstimate. The actual weights will vary with trailer lengths, installed equipment and accessories. Gard |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | 20-25% would be ideal. All depends on how far forward/back the trailer axles are located. Weight of the LQ, size of the fresh water tank (going to haul with it full when you leave home? Water weighs 8.333# per gallon), grey and black tank capacity's, how much stuff you're going to haul in the bed of the truck-vs- in the trailer..... You'd best weigh the truck, trailer, then with them all together on a scale that weighs each axle, then you'll know what you can/can't do before you buy the/a trailer. I would not rely to heavily on what the salesman says the trailer weighs. Had one (saleman) tell me the trailer weighed 7800#, I pull it on the scales and it's about the weight of a sleeve of Pringles tater chips shy, of 10000#!! EMPTY! |
