Sikaflex is an excellent marine polyurethane adhesive/caulk. Because it is so durable, it is difficult to remove. A narrow sharpened putty knife, or a utility knife can be used to cut it off. I've had some luck softening it with an industrial heat gun, but it gets too hot if you're near fiberglass.

Check the local HW there are products that claim they remove the old Caulk. You do not have to remove it all to reapply. Like the G man says above a hairdryer, putty knife or plastic scraper will help.

If it's on steel a wire brush on a grinder should work. That stuff is going to be hard to get off no matter what.... it's not like regular caulking, more of a glue.

I recaulked my Sundowner. Removed the Sikaflex from an aluminum roof with a twisted wire cup brush in a 4 1/2 inch side grinder. It takes a light touch, wear leather gloves + eye protection.
