Our personal favorite is the Smokey Mountains. The best horse camp there is Catalloochee, on the North Carolina side. |

The trails around Cades Cove, Schoolhouse Gap are beautiful. Big South Fork is just huge with tons of trails. I am sure you will have not trouble finidng places to ride. |

![500](https://horsetrailerworld.com/forum/images/decorations/multiple/500.gif) Location: Tucumcari NM | Living in Eastern New Mexico, I had never had any experience with any kind of tick except the ones on the dogs. After a trail ride outside Athens, Tennessee I found a tick imbedded in the back of my neck and another between my shoulder blades. I was so freaked out! I didn't know how to remove the things properly, so I just scraped them off with a fingernail. Then I spent the next hour scrubbing with every kind of disinfectant I coud lay my hands on. Gross! Thankfully, I am not nearly as squeamish as I was then. Still abhorr ticks, but at least the world keeps turning while I am dealing with the little nasties. Marla |

After a ride during certian seasons there can be quite a few on the horses. They love the tip of the tail deep under the hair. |

Marla Marla, Next time you get a tick on you try smothering it by putting tooth paste on it, when it smothers it backs itself out of your skin. When I first read this tip I couldn't believe it would work but I tried it and sure enough! |

Also the Buffalo River area just North of Waynesboro in Middle TN is a good camp an ride spot. I live in memphis but lease a farm down in Mississippi for the horses. Come on down! |
