| My husband and I just bought our first LQ trailer. I'm not real fond of the mattress that's in there, I'd like something that fills the entire space. But from looking at the archives here, I think my only choice is either to make my own or to have a custom mattress made - am I correct?
My second question is about bedding, what do people use? We were going to use our sleeping bags but sadly the zippers don't line up right, so we can't zip them together. Normal sheets don't fit the mattress in there and if I did get something shaped to fit that space it would be even worse. What's the best solution?

Location: Barnesville, Ga. | If you are wanting a mattress made then wait on buying bedding until you know the exact size. Camping world and other RV sites carry lots of sizes for RV mattresses. You can even have sheets made; I don't remember the site, but found some by doing a Goggle search for custom sheets. We had a mattress made at a local mattress shop to fit our trailer and it was much more comfortable than the foam one that it came with. We use a standard F/QU quilt on our bed (short queen) and tuck the excess around the mattress. Good luck in your search. |

Location: La Cygne, KS | What width is your trailer and does it have a dropped nose? If you have a standard 7 foot wide, you should be able to fit a full size matress in the nose. Just check the matress height and then calculate how much head room you have. If you have an 8 foot trailer (even with tapered nose) you should be able to fit a queen size bed. We have a very nice serta queen size bed with plenty of room to tuck in the sheets from the sides. Dropped nose helps with having plenty of head room. |

Location: KY | You do not want to fill the whole space because then it is very difficult to make the bed. If the mattress feels too thin, I recommend a mattress topper (memory foam is great), and that should make regular linens fit too. Overstock.com is a good place to find all kinds of mattress toppers. I also like adding a featherbed or a down filled mattress pad. |

Location: Texas | I would suggest a standard sized mattress if one will fit, a queen is nice for two people. You won't have trouble finding sheets that fit it then. As stated above you need room along the edges or you will have a hard time making the bed...... it's much harder already since you often have to be on top of it while you're trying to tuck the sheets under the edge. |

| I have one of these in my trailer and they are so comfortable! I sleep better in my trailer than in my own bed. http://www.daysendproducts.com/horse.html |

Location: Manitoba, Canada | I use a Futon mattress with a foam topper and sleep better than in my own house. The mattress is a double, there's room for a Queen size, but having room on each side of the mattress is a good thing. I wouldn't want to fill that up. |

Location: North of Detroit, MI | Bmcshep! Thanks. That's a great link. I've been using a queen size air mattress, because I can squish it against the shaped nose. But it's always very cold to sleep on. Now I can order the correct shape! Thanks! |
