Location: East Texas | How do you keep the bed from sliding around when camping? We have a queen size bed in the nose and put a 4" memory foam topper on it. The entire thing moves and slips when sleeping. The topper slides down the bottom when you are getting in and out of the bed - which makes it a chore to get up or down. Is there a way to keep the bedding together and from sliding around? |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | You talkin about the mattress sliding around on the metal gooseneck?? Glue a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet up these.... Nothing much will slide on that. Spray the mattress with some of that tacky stuff that the hunter jumper folks spray their saddles and britches with... I don't know... Never had that problem. |

Location: western PA | RE what Flyingfarm related about shelf liners. There is also a similar product that is sold to keep area rug carpeting from moving about on hardwood flooring. It is an open meshed, waffle design that should help keeping things in place. I use pieces of it in my shop when I want to route edges of projects. It easily prevents most movement of wood on wood, or wood on metal. If the topper is sliding on the mattress, purchase some of the Velcro spot kits and sew them to the corners of each. This will secure them together. Gard

Location: central sierra nevada foothills | First I thought it was the bed of your truck, I was gonna say, bolt the thing down, LOL!!!! Then I thought it was the matress it's self, cause mine don't do and I have a queen too in mine then figured you had no carpet or indoor outdoor carpet in it, . Then I read.......dummy me always second guessing, LOL.......it was the topper. I have a huge thick topper, it's like a downcomfortor that hasthe fitted sides with elastic, like a bottom sheet, ontop of mine, it makes for a real cushy bed, love it! Got it at Wally world, pretty cheap too! |

Location: East Texas | Thanks for the replies. The area is carpeted. The mattress moves and the topper slides off the bottom when getting on and off. Today I bought a fitted/elastic/ deep pockets queen mattress cover to put over them both together. Also bought 2 rolls of the stuff to keep dishes sliding around, thought I would unroll one of the rolls between the mattress and the other between the mattress and topper. Hopefully that will fix the problem. I made the mistake of getting off it wrong the other am, was half asleep and the topper had gotten far enough off the bed that I couldn't step on any of the steps into the bed and ended up falling on my tail bone. Not quite my usual way of waking up.. lolWill def. try the velcro stuff... may go ahead and buy it tomorrow and just do it all at the same time. They make some industrial strength stuff that should work well. duct tape.. duh, now why didn't I think of that????????? That will be my next try at fixing this problem. lol |

Location: Southern New Mexico | They also make keeper for sheets. They are sold to keep the fitted sheets on the matress. I can't remember what they are called, but they have a rubber "clip" that clips onto the sheet and then passes under the mattress and clips to the other corner to keep the sheet in place. Maybe that will work on the topper too. I bought ours a walmart. |

Location: East Texas | update on the mattress sliding...Used the wide shelf liner things between the mattress and the carpeted gooseneck, also put one of them between the bottom mattress and the top memory foam stuff. It helped keep the bottom mattress from moving, but the memory foam topper still moved, even with the deep pockets mattress cover.. and the quilt covering it all tucked in tight under the bottom and up the sides. ggrrrr this is frustrating. next camping trip is Easter week... with my niece.. have to find a way to keep this from moving by then. If I buy the large super heavy duty velcro stuff and put it between the mattresses do you think that would keep it from moving? I am not to excited about putting the velcro on the mattresses at all, but cannot think of another thing that would work. |

Location: Rocky Mount N.C. | Maybe some staples, needle and thread, finishing nails, roll off the matress rather than sliding and dragging yourself off, lay still, don't move, stay home, trade trailers, sit up all night and drink, etc, etc...... It may just be one of those things that is, what it is.... |

Location: Indiana | I was thinking the heavy duty velcro stuff too - and had the same thought about not wanting to stick it on the mattress. What if you put a mattress cover on first then the velcro and then stick the other side of the velcro to the topper? I'll have to think on it more. |

Location: MS | On your memory foam, do you have it in the fabric cover that they come with? If so, try taking it out. I have one of those on my bed in the house and it slides on there, too, with the cover on. The one in the trailer doesn't have one one, and it never budges. |

| I have no idea what the problem is, but I have never experienced it. I will say, you must have all the wrong surfaces coming together.
I custom made my mattress. After cutting the foam to the correct size, I made an envelope out of sheets to enclose it. So--the top and bottom surface is cotton sheeting. My memory foam topper is a cheaper version and does not have any covering. I place it on top of the mattress and put a custom fitted sheet over the whole thing. Nothing moves.
Here are my suggestions: Place a tightly fitting flannel sheet over the mattress. Place the memory foam topper on that, then put a tightly fitting smooth cotton sheet over everything. Now add blankets and pillows.
If that helps, GREAT! And to keep the mattress itself in place, I would consider a couple large pieces of hook side velcro stitched to the underside of the mattress. |

Something has to stop these 2 from sliding around. Thinking about taking 2 ratchet straps, using one across the very top and the other across the very bottom and tightening them down together. Did I mention it is driving me crazy? (and it is a very short drive)

Location: Bow, NH | This may be more effort than it's worth but what about building a frame that is slightly bigger than the bed and mounting it to the gn floor. that way you could set it inside the frame and it won't slide around. the frame could be mounted with a few screws through the underneath cross beams into the frame. Anyway, just a thought. |

Location: Salem, SD | We had a similar problem with memory foam topper sliding off the mattress and put the couple pieces of slip-resistant shelf liner between the topper and mattress before covering with a sheet. Works so far. |

Location: Temecula, CA | One thing you could do is go purchase (4) 4 X 4 decrotive prestained shelf brackets. Line up you mattress and set the shelf brackets (1st put some masking tape down) on the two back corners of the mattress (90 degree). Mark the bracket location and drill two small pilot holes through the floor of your bed area and go outside under the bed area (have someone hold the brackets) and screw the brackets in place. It solves the problem and looks good. |

Location: Tucumcari NM | Go to your fabric store and buy a spray can of fabric tack. Spray lightly on the carpet under the mattress, place the mattress, spray the top of the mattress and place the foam topper. Simple as pie. The stuff is easily removeable and works like a charm.

Location: western PA | If you go to the hardware section of most big box stores, you'll find some very long and large nails. They commonly are referred to as "dock spikes" or "landscaping timber nails". The 16" spikes work the best. In the hardware section you'll find small hand sledges in the 3# and 5# weights. Placing one nail on each corner of your mattress, and driving it downward with the sledge until it penetrates the flooring and becomes flush with the top surface, usually will stop any further movement of the bedding. The only draw backs pertain to scull damage when you're working under the goose area; a hard hat is welcomed. The second is the galvanic inter action caused by the steel spikes and aluminum flooring, which requires an occasional removal and the application of festerious juice. Activities shoud be restricted upon the mattress, while this maintenance is being performed. This is a DIY project that is inexpensive and easy to accomplish. The Blue Moon Co. charges up to $149.56 depending on the mattress size, so the savings are considerable. Gard |

| Shelf liner or waffle type carpet underlay ALSO work very well on saddle racks; so does a sweat wet saddle pad, but that isn't NICE under a mattress.
