Location: South Central OK | there is surgery, but used as a last resort only...try cribbing collars and then shock collars to see if you can stop the behavior Most important question is how long has the horse had the behavior? |

Location: AL | I have a 20 yr. old cribber that cribbed when we bought him. Don't know when this behavior actually started but as long as he wears the cribbing collar (and it is tight enough) he won't do it. However, if you take it off or if it is too loose and he is stalled, then he will go right back to it. I could let him out in the pasture without the collar and he is fine as long as he is grazing. But if he gets bored or the grass is not plentiful, you will find him at the fence getting his fix. He is a wonderful horse, just an all around guy but I probably would not purchase another one in the future if I knew that it cribbed. |
