Location: Decatur, Texas | The link you posted was for a Exiss CX model and that is like a stock/ combo that does not come with roof vents from the factory. The actual sport model horse trailer comes with roof vents and are framed in.
I have seen a bunch of the combo models people have put vents in and did not frame for them and they just rip right out even just when you are trying to open and shut them. The installers are so stupid they don't know that thin roof will not take that kind of force. |

Location: Decatur, Texas | wow, we have looked a few around here and all of them I have seen are framed in. We just didn't really care for them because of tack storage or lack of it. |

Location: Quesnel, BC Canada | I hate mine. It was sent back to Oklahoma once to be repaired and now it is falling apart again. All of the exiss sport trailers I have seen are missing cross members underneath the trailer where the holding tanks are. The trailer has flexed so much that the skin all the way down both sides of the trailer is full of dents and ripples. |

Location: East London South Africa | I was interested in an Exiss Sport when I was 1st looking for a trailer, but finally decided on a Cherokee Tomahawk....wow am I glad I did. I have been up on the roof of my Cherokee to install solar panels etc. and the roof is quite solid (it doesnt buckel even when I walked on it) The roof vents are not framed on my trailer either, but they are placed close to crossmembers - but the roof sheeting seems to be easily strong enough....the ally grade must also be a good grade as you have to drill it if you want to put a skrew into it - (not like some ally that you can just use a self tapper go straight in) I have never had (or seen for that matter) an Exiss, but have heard too many complaints on this forum about them....I would spend a bit more and buy a better trailer. |

| We certainly are pleased with our Exiss Event LQ. Our RV man has been on the roof of both our Platinum, and now our Exiss installing a MaxxAir for us,and he said that the Exiss roof was one of the best he'd ever seen on any horse trailer or anything else he's worked on. To each his own. You'd spend a lot more than "a bit more" to buy a Bloomer,4Star,Hart,ect.Which we couldn't do. |

Its my understanding the Exiss Event and Sport models are miles apart in terms of quality. I have never owned either. Anyone owned both? If you go to the Exiss web site, specifications are given for the construction of both models. There are differences in the thickness of the metal being used, the distance between the frame members, the axle capacities etc. The "Sport" model is a lower cost, lighter weight trailer that is built to compete with other similar trailers. Anyone who buys on price alone, and who doesn't research what he is purchasing, often is disappointed with the results. If two trailers look alike, but one weighs significantly less than the other, there has to be a difference in construction and materials. One would expect the heavier trailer to be more durable and longer lasting, because of its heavier construction. If the purchaser were to check into axle ratings, and tire load capacities, frame member sizing and placements, and hardware quality, he would realize that one trailer will offer more long term reliability and less maintenance. Most people buy by looks alone, and the "Sport" model is attractive and well equipped for its pricing. It sells in large numbers, and like any other product, will not please all of its owners. I would venture a guess in saying that many more people are satisfied with their purchase than disappointed. Exiss builds many trailers each year, and as you can see by the many unsolicited threads, there are a volume of satisfied owners. I am one of them. You will be unhappy if you fill it with work horses and haul it thousands of miles each year. You will probably be pleased if you use it occasionally, and your travels are smooth and uneventful. You get what you pay for. Gard |

Location: Michigan | Yes to each his own. And yes, I should have researched more, but really didnt pay a low price for what I got either. I assume maybe the "work horse" statement was towards me. we put two draft horses in ours, which our trailer is a 4 horse. So it should not have been over loaded what so ever. We hauled 50 miles and lost more rivets than I can count. The tie rings on the outside broke from a light HAY BAG being hung on it. I could go on and on and on. Just giving my honest opinion about the trailer that was asked about. Maybe the other models are great. I will never be personally finding out. But the OP asked about a sport. The sport is DEFINATELY NOT something I would encourage someone to buy. And it goes way beyond a quality issue, it is a safety issue. I do not feel that the trailer we had was safe. For any horse "work horse" or light horse! |

| Our Event must be pretty well built, our big gelding was startled from a sound in the LQ while he was tied up to the trailer and he pulled back, reared, and I thought he was going to try to sit back and really haul into it,or the tie ring would come off, but,it was fine. There's problems with every trailer, they're built by humans.I do know the Sport doesn't have good reviews, but,I'd have another Exiss. Heck, this day and time I feel real lucky to be able to have what I've got and be able to use it. |

Location: Northern CA | I don't know guys, I just looked at the new Exiss Sport GN trailers and they seem like tin cans! The rear doors had no weight to them at all and knocking on the walls on the inside felt and looked really flimsy. I used to own an '03 and don't remember it being this "cheap" like. Has Exiss started using lower grade materials? And wow have the prices on these things soared!!! They used to be an affordable trailer ! There were no Event models on the grounds, so was not able to look them over. |

For any horse "work horse" or light horse! DHJ, if you will reread my thread, you will find that it was posted in a direct response to a question posed by "Headhunter". No one is questioning your veracity or the problems you have had with your trailer, and your resulting dislike for the brand. Quite the opposite. In fact I can empathize with your situation. The only new trailer I've purchased, was delivered with no lubrication in the wheel bearings on one side. It caused major damage to the mechanicals. However, once the repairs were made, I enjoyed a mechanically trouble free ownership for the next decade and a half. If ten Exiss trailers roll off the assembly line in an almost perfect condition, there is every reason to expect the next one could be a lemon. A disgruntled employee, a Monday morning hangover, even a father consumed with family problems, can easily turn a good trailer into a defective product. Until a production line is completely robotized, there will be failures whenever the human element is introduced. With the complexities and expense of a trailer's manufacture, it is unlikely that a completely mechanized assembly will ever be practical. I'm sorry you have had such a negative experience with your trailer. It is especially unfortunate when you consider how many people have not. I am a staunch advocate of Exiss products (not the Sport), and am disheartened whenever I hear of problems such as yours. It brings into question the value of my loyalty. My comment about the work horse, was only meant to show the disparity in service and life expectancy of the same trailer with different owners. I in no way, meant any of my statements to demean or disrespect you in any way. That conduct is already too pervasive, as it is commonly practiced within this forum. BOL Gard

Location: Okla City, Okla | If I might , I would like to explain some of the problems everyone has discussed regarding trailers. I have been selling & servicing horse trailers for 25 years. The problem we all run into on trying to determine the quality of a trailer brand is made much more difficult for this reason. Every trailer manufacturer is either constantly adding models or changing the structure & features of their existing models. This can be for numerous reasons, economy-rising prices-market requirements-consumer preferences-technology etc. They are trying to make a profit and still have a marketable trailer. Trailers often change from year to year in small ways including slight changes to structural materials, etc. Any & all of these changes can affect the use factors on any trailer. Unfortunately, what this creates with trailer users is a somewhat misleading sense of the quality of a trailer brand. To properly evaluate the quality of any single trailer you must educate yourself to the point that you can recognize the different factors that make a trailer good quality and as I have said these factors are constantly changing. Over the last few years, most manufacturers have introduced price driven trailer models which are generally lighter built trailers but this does not necessarily reflect on the quality of all of their models. I hope this helps to explain why one person has good luck with a brand at one time and another person has bad luck with the same brand and same model of trailer. It is confusing at best.....even to dealers.

Location: Michigan | Understand completely! :) I guess if I think about it...if I were to compare an escort to an excursion.....there would be no comparison...same company different models! Ok, dont want to bash all of Exiss....just my particular trailer.....I did let my bitterness, over take me. So sorry. Ok, I will now ay something positive about it....it did look nice from a distance And it was easy yo pull, sure was light LOL I am glad to hear that there are better models out there. |

Location: Quesnel, BC Canada | The dealer who sold me the trailer knew that I rodeo every weekend and assured me that it was more than capable of going down the road every weekend. Not everyone has unlimited cash to buy top of the line trailers and the workmanship as well as the customer service should still be satisfactory which neither are. |
