Location: Eyota, MN | Hi there, I'm new, and I'd appreciate some help. I'm putting up my trailer for the winter (in MN) and I need advice. This is my first aluminum, (Exiss 4 horse) and I've just pulled out the mats and hosed it down with the pressure washer, but now I'm wondering if I should use some kind of detergent or bleach? Location: MO | Is your trailer painted aluminum or not. That makes a difference. We have a Bison wit painted aluminum. The E Z All truck and trailer wash works fine for us. If it's not painted, you may need an acid wash. |

I've noticed there are some tiny white, chewed up looking 'spots' in the front two stalls, where I've never even had horses. |

| I don't think I would use anything "heavy duty" in terms of an acid wash.It's kind of a contradiction in terms because acid washes are pretty heavy duty as they are.Granted there are strong ones,I imagine what the truckers use isn't the same as what you can buy off the shelves. I use and highly recommend Streakmaster products.I have tried them and have found them to be everything the manufacturer says that they are with very good results.You can call them and they will personally talk to you about your trailer needs and recommend what you need to use. www.streakmaster.com |

Muriatic acid (Home depot, Lowes, hardware stores etc) applied to and around the spots will stop the corrosion. Corrosion can be found in aluminum as white or black spots, with an advanced problem manifesting as a whitish powder surrounding a particular area. The acid washes are not meant for this maintenance. They only remove surface oxidation and are typically called "brighteners". Gard |
