![100](https://horsetrailerworld.com/forum/images/decorations/multiple/100.gif) ![25](https://horsetrailerworld.com/forum/images/decorations/multiple/25.gif) Location: Northwest Ohio | A large group of us went to Hell (Michigan, that is) over Labor Day weekend. Had a good time. For those of you who know the area, it's very close to Waterloo Recreation Area. Hell Creek Ranch and Campground was nice...water and electric between every two sites. Pool and bathhouse/restrooms are less than 2 years old. The campground has a stable full of horses for "city slickers" to take guided trail rides. It has both regular campsites and one row of horsemens' sites. Our horses were high-lined between the trees across the drive, next to the woods. Trails are well marked using numbers. Terrain varies between sand and stone. Some hills but nothing extensive. Of course, there are little gift shops with all kinds of "Hell" souvenirs in town. The one shop has an ice cream counter and all the sundae toppings are housed in a coffin. |

Hell is the name of the town, 15 miles northwest of Ann Arbor. There's even a U.S. Post Office there (however, it actually shares the Pinckney ZIP Code). When I re-read my subject line, it looks as if I might be referring to the whole state of Michigan as Hell. OK, I'm a huge OSU Buckeyes fan and could make other comments about that state to my north, but that's a whole different topic. If you google Hell, Michigan, you'll find websites giving all kinds of fun information, history, and how the town got its name.

Maybe you have to get to Climax, before you can go to Hell ???? |

So there's really a "Hell Freezes Over" photo floating around. http://www.upgradetravelbetter.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/hell-freezes-over.jpg This past summer my daughter and girlfriend and I broke down with big truck and trailer. We limped into a little 4 corners place and when we tried to tell her brother were we were broke down, we said "Halfway between Hell and home"... ![](http://www.horsetrailerworld.com/forum/emoticons/icon_aug4.gif)
