Going to look at it on Wed. and then will ask about towing it. I know there has been a lot of discussion about the bumper pull LQ's. I went and read the entire thread that Jubilee posted about her Lakota HUT. This is an instance where people were saying "You got enough truck, blah blah blah" ... but there is more than just enough truck, etc. The hitch has to be rated for the towed weight. My F150 is rated to tow anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 pounds. That's simply frame, engine, and tranny power so to speak. The factory-installed hitch at the back of the truck is not rated that high UNLESS I use a weight carrying hitch (WDH). An F250, with the same engine and tranny that I have, has the same ratings as my F150 and the same hitch limitations. Those are stamped directly on the back bumper. The steel piece that slides INTO the hitch, that holds the ball, also has limitations to it. So, when I had the F150 and wanted a bigger trailer than my existing one, I had the option of spending $400 or so on a WDH and modifying the A-frame on a BP trailer to accommodate the WDH hardware and then figuring out all the link adjustments to use it for different weights, or spending $600 on a GN hitch. Hmmm.... Yup. I went with the $600 gooseneck hitch. Less complicated and less work for the truck for the amount of allowable towed weight. If the receiver AND the hitch don't match the load, then you will need WDH to balance the rig. LQ BPs ... I have seen a few DIY conversions that worked okay. I don't see the purpose behind them unless you have a cap or camper on the pickup truck that will be big enough to pull them. If you have a camper on the PU truck, why bother with LQ? A Sleeping area in a BP with room for a small cabinet added to the front of a 2H or 3H? Sure. But once you start with kitchen, bathroom, tanks, pumps, A/C, furnaces, etc. that's too much weight. When I looked at the link to the trailer (in Loveland, CO) i noticed that the A-frame DOES have the blocks for WDH. I wonder why it only has 1 butt window in the horse area though? looks cozy. I wonder why it's for sale by private owner... hmmm....
