Help.

I'm the original owner of a 1998 Shupe 2 horse bumper pull with a 7-pin round connector.

Recently, when we hook the trailer to the 7-pin connector and try to pull the trailer the brakes lock.

I can pull it without the connector with them locking, but that means no lights and no brakes -- a bit unsafe at best.

I have another vehicle which I tow with and get the same results so it must be in the traier.

I recently replaced the emergency break-away switch and same symptoms.

Would a cut in the electrical line (or something causing a short) be a cause for this type of symptom?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-luigi

Take the plug apart on the trailer and repair the shorted out wires. Better yet, go to the parts store, buy you a new plug (less that $10.00) and wire it according to this diagram..... On your "SHOOP" trailer.
