Here's a Boeckmann Big Master. The Big Master is a roomy 2H straight load that can accommodate 2 horses to 18 hands, has a convenient tack compartment and can be pulled safely by many of today's downsized SUVs and compact trucks. The Big Master is functional, but in the short time it's been on our lot, we've also found it to be a real attention getter. We'll provide more specifics on the Big Master in a moment, but first, some background on Boeckmann. *** Boeckmann is one of Europe's premier horse trailer brands (in fact, in the view of many, it is THE premier brand), with an excellent reputation for quality and robust construction. They've been imported to Canada for several years (so there's a well-established support infrastructure for North America) and now they're available at Traveled Lane Trailers in the USA. *** (Regarding the name, it's actually Bockmann with an umlaut over the "o." When an umlaut isn't available, it's spelled "Boeckmann." As for pronunciation, the umlaut complicates things, but "Bookmun" is reasonably close. That's definitely as close as we can get with a simple phonetic spelling.) The company was started by the Boeckmann family in 1956 and they've been producing premium,fuel-saving horse trailers since the 1960s. *** And now back to the Big Master... As we said earlier, the Big Master is a roomy 2H straight load, for horses to 18 hands. Trailer body length is approximately 12 feet (with over 5 feet forward of the chest bars!) and the interior height is approximately 7'8". The Big Master is several inches wider than some other familiar European trailer models. Empty weight is approximately 2200 lbs. and the loaded tongue weight doesn't exceed 211 lbs. (Compare to 400-500 lb. tongue weight of typical domestic 2H BP.) * The Big Master's sleek shape is for aerodynamic efficiency, but it's also efficient at getting noticed. The curves, colors and hunkered-down look draw a lot of attention. The Big Master's slip-through-the-air curves are made possible by its construction - cored fiberglass walls and fiberglass roof riding on a durable galvanized steel chassis. The floor consists of interlocking extuded aluminum planks, anodized for corrosion protection. *** Boeckmanns feature as standard the Overrun mechanical braking system, which works on the same principle as the Inertia braking system we spoke of for many years. As the tow vehicle decelerates, Overrun brakes apply braking force automatically in proportion to the load in the trailer. Which means you don't need to adjust a brake controller to compensate for the load. IN FACT, YOU DON'T EVEN NEED A BRAKE CONTROLLER IN THE TOW VEHICLE! ***** Key Big Master features: Well-proven light tongue weight European design for easy towing * Bright, inviting interior * Adjustable height padded chest bars with Safety Stall Bar exterior release (for emergencies) * Covered butt bars, with easy stall length adjustment * Lockable groom door * Roomy tack compartment with standard telescoping saddle racks, hooks, shelves, telescoping shovel & broom/scraper, mirror and more * Lockable interior & exterior doors on the tack compartment * Tinted vent window near each horse's head * Extra tall ramp with convenient toeholds on the mat and dual assist struts for easy handling * Self-furling 3-mode rear curtain above ramp - Position 1) curtain open, Position 2) curtain closed, or Position 3) curtain closed with vent screen open * Ramp step to aid curtain access * Stall wall pads * Kick panels on lower walls * Optional lattice-style head divider shown (solid head divider also offered as an option) * Shown with optional exterior saddle bar * Spare tire & wheel * Smooth-riding torsion axles (with shock absorbers - a rare find!) * Smooth-stopping 4-wheel Overrun brakes - you don't need a brake controller! * Radial tires * Standard integrated coupler lock * Bright, reliable LED tail and marker lights * Available in a variety of colors and color combinations * Shown with optional horse graphic by renowned artist Jan Kuenster (and yes, that should be Kunster with an umlaut) and extra layer of floor mat under horses' front feet * And how about these thoughtful features: Wheel chocks, parking brake (don't leave it on for extended periods, though!) and a coupler status indicator to let you know it's securely on the ball! * Stop by and see why Boeckmann has long been one of Europe's most-respected brands! * Watch our HTW listings and www.traveledlanetrailers.com as we add more Boeckmann models to our inventory.
