Here is a copy of the email that we sent to the Springfield MO police department after our little 'tired tire' senario Fri.PM! I believe in giving policemen every encouragement when they are deserving.I sure wouldn't want their job!

[Reason for Contact:] blowout on horse trailer on interstate with 2
horses
[What happened:] We were traveling to Cassville,MO to spend a weekend
with friends,and were hauling 2 horses in a 2horse trailer.At the last
over pass before exiting off on 60W to go to Republic,we had a tire
blowout on the trailer.It was on the side by the roadway,and no room to
change it,very dangerous and unnerving situation.We called 911 for
officer assistance because we had no idea what we were going to do,and
officer HIcks responded.Very courteous,mannerly,and helpful,he suggested
we drive the short distance to get off the freeway onto 60W at Republic
to a safe place to change it,and he escorted us there.People were flying
by us 70MPH,and we would not have been able to have done a thing but sit
there,possibly could have been struck from behind.We wish to commend
officer HIcks to his commanding officer and congratulate the Springfield
PD for having such a fine officer on their force.We respect and honor
our police officers and know that in times of need they will come
through for anyone,life,death,or a flat tire.Thank you,officer HIcks,a
million times.

We certainly had a great deal of gratitude when he showed up,and was willing to stay with us until he saw we were in a safe place.I don't think they are appreciated as much as they should be,so,when I get a chance I think it only fair to commend him to his co-officers and his superiors.That may have been the least hairraising call he made,but it sure was hairy for  us.
