I believe I've read that you can see damage to the front teeth with some cribbers.  I would imagine that at age 12 if the horse has been cribbing for awhile, you or your vet may see evidence on the teeth.  This may be proof if the seller was concealing something from you.  Did you have a pre-purchase exam?
