Is Jack's Creek anywhere near Jackson Hole? or Cody? or where?? We have always wanted to head up to Wyoming via Berrybend(Mo)/stayover,ride-Ft.Robinson @ chadron,nebraska... then on to Cody,Wy then other places and are determined to load up and go late spring "08. Would appreciate any help/info on our "Big Bang" vacation... it has been long overdue.
I have never been to Jacks creek but have driven in that area (Sunlight Basin). It would best to call the ranger station. I know you will need certified weed free hay and expect bears.
IMHO, I think the western slope of the Wind River Range is just as nice.
Edit, not sunlight basin area but south of cody. Meeteesee is a neat little town. Sorry for the mix up.

Big Sandy was great riding. Really had a great time. My son and his wife joined Dave and Debbie and Sharon & I for the first week. Then we stayed on for another week plus.
If we go back we will disperse camp away from the trail head. The outfitters think they own the place. The pens there are first come first serve. We were out for a ride one day. Left water buckets, feed bucket and hay in the pens, came back to find the pens full of horses. It was very wet and they made a real mess of the pens. Then they had the nerve to want us to share the pens with them so they wouldn't have to picket, but wanted us to picket some of ours. We had to, with the Rangers agreement, place locks on the pens to keep the outfitters out.

Big Sandy was the best. The riding was great. Best mountain riding we have ever done. We wanted to go into the Cirque of Towers but could not make it through Jack Ass Pass. We saw lots of hikers, some of them with lamas. That was real interesting.
